In order to avoid debt, students may want to think about adopting a weekly allowance system to manage their money, an expert has suggested.
The importance of budgeting to students has been highlighted by Andrew Hagger from Moneynet.co.uk, who feels it is vital young people try not to overspend when they are studying.
Within a list of financial tips for those heading for university in the near future, Mr Hagger said: "Set yourself a weekly allowance for food shopping and cash for going out and make an effort to keep within it."
The expert also recommended in a statement released by his website: "Try to live within your means."
Those considering the adoption of products like personal loans may be interested to note that he additionally warned students that they should only make use of credit card products in emergency situations.
Last month, Ucas revealed that it has seen 660,953 full-time undergraduate course applications made for the next academic year.
