Site reveals 'secret debts' problems...

Potential debt consolidation customers are keeping the amount of money they owe secret from their partners, it has been revealed.

A report from CreditExpert.co.uk showed that around 20 per cent have secured or unsecured debts and have not let their nearest and dearest know about the problem.

Around half that number said that they had not told the truth about the number of credit or store cards they owned.

CreditExpert.co.uk also found that nine in ten believed that financial honesty was important in a relationship - despite one in five saying that they wanted their partner not to know about their own personal finances.

Recent statistics from charity Consumer Action suggested that total levels of personal debt in the UK exceed £1.4 trillion.

This figure could move upwards over the months to come as the recession worsens and rising unemployment takes its toll.

Taking out a debt consolidation loan is one way of dealing with financial problems - secret or otherwise.
