Housing debts 'may have psychological impact on families'

Families in the UK could be psychologically affected because of the need for them to meet mortgage payments, it has been suggested by one expert, in a development which might interest those who have homeowner loans.

This is not the only problem that people may have to contend with if mortgage payments prove to be a regular struggle, according to Chris Jenkins, the co-owner of the Homeowners Advice Centre.

Mr Jenkins stated: "Struggling with mortgage payments month in month out can have a massive effect on a family both in terms of their standard of living and psychologically."

At the present time, the expert pointed out one problem that exists in the UK relates to financially struggling householders who fail to seek advice that could ease their problems.

A total of 9,400 repossessions were recorded by the Council of Mortgage Lenders in the year's second three-month period, it was recently revealed by the organisation.
