'Financial stress' taking its toll on Britons
The stress of coping during the economic downturn may be having an impact on the health of people in the UK, according to new research.
Chartered physiotherapist Sammy Margo has claimed in conjunction with CreditExpert that she has seen a 25 per cent increase in stress-related injuries in recent times and has linked the problems to money concerns.
According to CreditExpert, 6.8 million people in the UK feel they owe more than they can manage, which may lead them to take out debt consolidation loans.
It was also revealed that 9.7 million feel they are at the threshold of the physical and mental anguish they can cope with.
Darryl Bowman of CreditExpert said: "Protect yourself from Recession Strain Injury by making positive steps to take control of your finances. Simply putting plans in place could help to reduce tension."
Recent figures published by Axa revealed that a quarter of adults are hiding some form of debt from loved ones.
