Credit report changes 'will help people track finances'
New efforts to make it easier for people to access credit reports should help consumers improve their finances, an expert has suggested.
Helen Newton, head of communications at the Money Advice Trust, made the comment while discussing the government's decision to allow people to access their details online for a nominal fee of only £2.
In addition, both credit reference and consumer groups have committed to work together to improve levels of awareness in relation to checking credit records.
Ms Newton said the Money Advice Trust was fully in support of the decision.
She added that the changes "should provide fast access to credit reports, increase transparency and ease of access, helping people to keep track of their money and better manage their finances".
Earlier this week, Loans&Credit.com urged people to always be aware of their credit rating before applying for a personal loan, as a failure to do so could impact on their ability to find the best deals.
