Consumer group raises awareness of banking costs
People in the UK have been reminded by one consumer group about some of the banking costs they may have to deal with, which might interest those who have personal loans.
Rather than being free, banks might subtly hit people with fees for things like overdraft usage and overseas spending, Which? has suggested.
Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive of the body, has highlighted the choice that consumers could make if they are unhappy with the bank charges that currently apply to them.
He stated: "If you regularly go into the red or want a better return on your money, then the figures speak for themselves - it's worth making the switch to a more suitable account."
Popular belief suggests that banking may actually be free, he pointed out, whereas this is not really the case.
Which? Money last month revealed that some of the country's savers may not be kept fully abreast of interest rate changes.
