Britons spend more on plastic surgery than tea
The British public spend more money on cosmetic surgery than they do on tea, according to a report from Mintel.
The company said next year Britons will spend a total of roughly £659 million on cosmetic surgery almost £50 million more than they spend on tea.
Some 23 per cent of women said they would like to have plastic surgery done, while only nine per cent of men admitted to harbouring the desire to be cosmetically enhanced.
Jenny Catlin, senior market analyst at Mintel, remarked: "Acceptance of cosmetic surgery is growing within the British psyche, which is reflected in the increasing number of cosmetic surgery procedures being carried out in this country."
"Facial surgery continues to attract the greatest spend, as the face is not only the key focal point of appearance and judgment, but is also typically the primary victim of the ageing process," she concluded.
Just one in fifty of the UK's population have had plastic surgery, with cost being the greatest barrier, according to the report.
Some people who might struggle to raise the necessary finances to receive cosmetic enhancements could consider a low-rate personal loan to help in their aim, although there are many other diverse uses for such loans.
